Vietnam airlines


Today we wanted to look at a very important and extremely successful Vietnamese company: Vietnam Airlines. This company is a perfect illustration of the rise of Vietnam.

The company was founded in 1956 and later established as a state-owned enterprise in April 1989. The airline has currently 92 planes and offers 64 destinations worldwide.

Among these 64 destinations, 21 are inside Vietnam while the others 43 are abroad.

Vietnam Airlines is regularly ranked as one of the best airline companies in the World.

The company has recently been awarded the highest ranking for safety with 7-stars from the world’s only safety and product rating agency AirlineRatings.com.

In February this year, Vietnam received a Category 1 aviation safety rating from the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), giving airlines the opportunity to fly to the US and code-share with American carriers.

Vietnam Airlines uses both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. In terms of financial, Vietnam Airlines is doing well too.

At the end of 2018, Vietnam Airlines reported a record revenue of VND96.8 trillion ($4.2 billion), up 17 per cent on-year. The pre-tax profit was VND3.24 trillion ($140.9 million), up 34 per cent compared to the initial plan. Vietnam Airlines is also quoted on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the ticker is HVN.Current Price to Earnings ratio is around 25.
