Did you know that there are two main stock exchanges in Vietnam? The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HSX) and the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE). The Hanoi Stock Exchange (HSX) was launched in March 2005. It covers bonds & stock and smaller companies. The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) was launched 5 years earlier in 2000. The HOSE represents 88% of market capitalizations and roughly 75% of total liquidity. The two stock exchanges should soon merge and become the VSE (Vietnam Stock Exchange). Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved Ho Chi Minh City’s proposal to headquarter Vietnam Stock Exchange in Ho Chi Minh City.
